The NAACP has named activist Cornell William Brooks the new national president and CEO. Brooks will become the organization’s 18th national president. Nelson Mandela has been inducted into the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum Court of Honor. A bronze plaque was revealed in his honor and placed among the like of John F. Kennedy and Pope John Paul ll. Mandela visited the Coliseum for a freedom rally in June of 1990. USC President C.L. Nikias said, “By dedicating a plaque in his name today, we honor not only Nelson Mandela’s memory, but also the many memories that have been created in this city and in this Coliseum.” [WaveNewsPapers]
