Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds and his longtime girlfriend Nicole Patenburg tied the knot in California this weekend. The pair exchanged vows in front of celebrity friends, including Oprah Winfrey. The couple began dating in 2007 and have a 5-year-old daughter together named Peyton. Congratulations to the newlyweds. [E!News]

Idris Elba is set to star in upcoming thriller Bastille Day about a CIA agent who must team up with an unsuspecting American con artist living abroad to prevent a terrorist attack in France. The film was picked up by Focus Features during the Cannes Festival this past weekend. [Deadline]

Serena Williams has won the Italian Open title, beating out Sara Errani. This is her third Italian Open wi—she also won in 2002 and 2013. After recovery from an injury last week Williams came back full force saying, “I’m not 100 percent but I’m just kind of going on adrenaline.” [LATimes]

The NAACP has named activist Cornell William Brooks the new national president and CEO. Brooks will become the organization’s 18th national president. In an interview Brooks said, “I am deeply humbled and honored to be entrusted with the opportunity to lead this powerful historic organization.” [TheGrio]

Nelson Mandela has been inducted into the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum Court of Honor. A bronze plaque was revealed in his honor and placed among the like of John F. Kennedy and Pope John Paul ll. Mandela visited the Coliseum for a freedom rally in June of 1990. USC President C.L. Nikias said, “By dedicating a plaque in his name today, we honor not only Nelson Mandela’s memory, but also the many memories that have been created in this city and in this Coliseum.” [WaveNewsPapers]
