It was 21 years ago when LeToya Luckett, Beyoncé Knowles, Kelly Rowland and LaTavia Robinson teamed up with music legend Wyclef Jean to give us “No, No, No Part 2.” Cue repeatedly: “This is the remix.”
While ESSENCE was on the red carpet for the 2019 MTV VMAs, Luckett-Walker and Jean reunited and it was adorable. The two Grammy award winning musicians caught up with each other and met one another’s significant others (respectively Tommicus Walker and Claudinette Jean) and reminisced about their time working together.
Luckett-Walker told Jean, “I got married and everything! I’m grown now.”
The actress credits Jean with pushing them to try different vocal approaches in the studio. “He made us all go into the booth together and sing the whole song, top to bottom, like non-stop. He was like, ‘I don’t care if you mess up. I don’t care what happens. I just want you to feel.'”
