In “The Case of Benjamin Button,” Taraji P. Henson plays Queenie, who finds Benjamin Button abandoned on the doorstep of the nursing home she runs and takes him in as her own. He is born with the health and appearance of an old man.
The film is based on F. Scott Fitzgerald’s short story, and Queenie continues to have faith in Benjamin after he begins to age backward from an old man.
Queenie (Henson) is aglow as Benjamin (Brad Pitt) takes his first steps.
Along with older men and women in the nursing home, Queenie gets help in raising Benjamin from her boyfriend Tizzy (Mahershalalhashbaz Ali).
Henson says experiencing the loss of her own father helped her prepare for the maternal role of caring for the elderly after her family ensured her father’s final days were as comfortable as possible.
Queenie is overjoyed to see Benjamin return for a visit. The movie was filmed in New Orleans a year after Hurricane Katrina and brought jobs to the recovering area as residents continued to return.
Queenie and Tizzy get ready for a big celebration.
Queenie has a strong belief in God, including that he will keep Benjamin safe.
In “The Family That Preys,” Henson plays Pam, left, Tyler Perry’s wife in the film. She poses before the wedding of her sister Andrea (Sanaa Lathan) with their mother, Alice (Alfre Woodard). Perry’s first drama hit theaters in September 2008.
Taraji began to make a name for herself after starring in “Baby Boy” with Tyrese Gibson as his spitfire baby mother and girlfriend, Yvette.
Just as quick as Yvette (Henson) and Jody (Gibson) began to argue, they quickly returned to good terms in the 2001 film.
