On Christmas Eve, Atlanta’s Ron Clark Academy, a private middle school in southeast Atlanta, received a check for $365,000 from media mogul Oprah Winfrey, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. The institution opened in 2007 and needs $2.4 million a year to continue. Ron Clark, the educator who opened the academy, told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that Winfrey’s gift will cover 26 full-year scholarships. Winfrey told Clark she is donating the money because he is doing incredible work with the teens.
