Jamel Sears died last November while he was training to become a New York City firefighter and now his wife believes he was the victim of racist actions to keep Blacks out of the department. Lawyers for Sherita Sears, who is a New York City police officer, filed a claim earlier this month informing city officials that she plans to sue for $10 million, according to the Daily News. New requirements ask that recruits carry 100 pounds of equipment a certain distance within a short amount of time. -WLW
