Ciara and Russell Wilson found a productive way to cherish their abundance of time spent at home (well, besides having another adorable baby, of course!). The beloved couple had secretly been working on their own duo fragrance collection “R&C,” which is launching just in time for you to surprise your boo thang for the holidays.
ESSENCE spoke with Russell and Ciara just ahead of the launch to talk about how they during the making of their fragrance line. “I was pregnant [at the time] so I had a nose of a dog,” Ciara said. “I could smell a fragrance all the way around the corner. So I think I had a little bit of an advantage in my process. The experience created really cool memories for Russ and I.”
Since they couldn’t venture out during the pandemic, Russell and Ciara turned their fragrance-testing sessions into mini-date nights. “To be honest with you, we had three or four date nights just surrounded around the fragrances,” said Russell. “It all ended in great results. It was an absolute blast to just have fun together and keep it sexy.”
R&C’s new fragrance is a “his and hers” expression. Russell’s fragrance “R” is a smooth blend of patchouli, musk, bergamot and black tea. Notes of lavender and pear blossom round out the fragrance for a light and airy finish. Ciara’s “C” fragrance is complete with notes of red berries, jasmine, peony and sandalwood for a blend of feminine and addictive aromas. The packaging is just as alluring and will be a perfect addition to your nightstand. The fragrances are housed in two different metallic bottles, which come together magnetically to symbolize the couple’s connection.
The Wilsons, who are passionate about giving back, have incorporated a charitable component to their new fragrance launch. A portion of all “R&C” proceeds will go to the couple’s Why Not You Foundation, a non-profit dedicated to education, children’s health and fighting poverty.
