Black Families And Couples Were In The Building For The Big Game

From stars with their kids to our favorite couples, see photos and more of all the fun that was had while enjoying the game of all games.
Black Families And Couples Were In The Building For The Big Game
By Dominique Fluker · Updated February 13, 2023

In addition to football, the Big Game was filled with riveting performances from Babyface, Sheryl Lee Ralph, and of course, mother-to-be for the second time, Rihanna. While the performances kept everyone on their feet, sports fans and pop culture enthusiasts couldn’t help but notice the star power at the State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Ariz. Black love was present throughout the evening, as many performers received family support before gracing the stage.

Before Emmy award-winning actress Sheryl Lee Ralph belted out a soul-stirring rendition of “Lift Every Voice And Sing” during the pre-show, she was behind the scenes with her son, Etienne Maurice, and daughter Ivy Coco Maurice, who also styled her for the performance.

A$AP Rocky also supported his partner, Rihanna, before she took the stage for the Apple Music Halftime Show, revealing she was expecting baby number two! During her performance, Rocky was excitedly capturing her set and dancing along in a custom jacket that commemorated the occasion.

She first revealed in January 2022 that she was expecting her first child with Rocky and later gave birth to a baby boy on May 13. The singer and mogul always planned to have more children and expand her family.

According to her March 2020 Vogue interview, she said she’d like to have three or four children. “I know I will want to live differently [in 10 years],” she told Vogue. “I’ll have kids — three or four of ’em.”

We also saw our fair share of Black love in attendance, with star couples like Niecy Nash and Jessica Betts and LeBron and Savannah James enjoying the game. See the other Black couples and families who turned out to help the NFL end the season with a bang.

The Last OG star brought his family to enjoy the game with him and to have quality bonding time, including daughter Maven.

Brittney and Cherelle Griner made a surprise second public appearance for The Big Game. The couple flashed smiles, which everyone was happy to see.

LeBron and Savannah James

The couple enjoyed the game and were likely still celebrating the NBA superstar reaching a historic milestone, as James is now the highest scorer in the NBA. Football fans didn’t give James the warmest reception, but the unbothered star adjusted his crown — literally — and enjoyed the festivities.

Jay-Z and Blue Ivy

Our favorite father-daughter duo showed up and out at The Big Game! Jay-Z also turned into an Instagram dad at the game, snapping flicks for Blue Ivy, who now is 11 years old. Where does the time go?
