It’s been 30 years since Hip Hop supergroup Salt-N-Pepa made history as the first female rap act to land in the top 20 of the Billboard Top 100 and they celebrated by closing out the 2018 Billboard Awards with an unforgettable performance on Sunday night.
Taking the stage to deliver a medley of their biggest hits, the ladies kicked things off with a nostalgic performance their 1993 classic, “Shoop,” from their fourth studio album, Very Necessary.
In the most anticipated moment of the performance, the trio reunited with iconic R&B divas, En Vogue, for a run through of their classic collaboration, “Whatta Man,” which also included a quick cameo from Billboard Awards host, Kelly Clarkson.
Salt-N-Pepa broke barriers with their unprecedented success after emerging onto the music scene as strong, powerful female voices in the male-dominated Hip Hop genre. Most recently, the group revealed that they’ll be kicking off a residency in Las Vegas this September.
