April is Alcohol Awareness Month, so we’ve been encouraging you all to take a closer at how much you’ve been consuming, as heavy alcohol use is the third leading cause of preventable death in the United States. More than 28 million Americans struggle with alcohol use disorder. However, more younger Americans are deciding to put the bottle down and opt for healthier drinks or outlets.
According to the Pew Research Center, young adults today are less likely to drink than young adults two decades ago. The share of adults ages 18 to 34 who say they ever drink dropped from 72% in 2001-03 to 62% in 2021-23. And though mocktails are on the rise, it’s reported that only 18% of millennials and 10% of adults 45+ have made or purchased one in the last 30 days.
