[MUSIC] Hello, Essence.com, I'm Dana Blair. This is my New York City Marathon medal. And this is 7 Things We're Talking About. Attention, this is a moment for the history books. US team gymnast, Simone Biles and Gabrielle Douglas took first and second place in the all around competition at the 2015 Gymnastic World Championships. Biles took home four gold medals from the Scotland competition. Team, all around, floor and beam, and one bronze for vault. Olympic gold medalist, Gabby Douglas won silver in the all around. 18 year old Biles is definitely one to watch. She has the most world championship medals ever by an American woman. And with Ten golds, the most by a female gymnast. As part of the fierce five at the London Olympics in 2012, Essence cover star Gabby Douglas stole America's hearts, but she has since taken two years off. Douglas, who recently graduated high school, You better go. Is now the first reigning Olympic women's all around champion to place on the podium at the world competition since 1981. The pressure is on for both girls at the 2016 games. And especially so for Biles who's hoping to beat The curse. And six out of the last seven Olympic Games the woman who has won the world champion the previous year went on to lose the Olympic all around title. Now I know I will be watching the games in Rio and pulling for both of these stellar young women as they continue to kick **** and make history. Rachel Dolezal addressed her racial identity on The Real last week. Currently pregnant, Rachel admitted to being caucasian which is a bit shocker there. But continuous to say that she identifies as a black woman. You'll recall a few months ago [UNKNOWN] that Rachel who was head of her local NAACP chapter at the time, became a national headline after her parents outed her as a white woman, Pretending to be a black woman and of course folks were outraged. Audience members on The Real jumped up and roared and applause as she finally made the admission. Co-host Tamera Mowry-Housley asked her what it means to her to be black and Dolezal responded and I quote, how we feel is more powerful than how we're born. Blackness can be defined as philosophical, cultural, or biological. I think you do have to walk the walk if that's who you are. Tamar Braxton asks if she feels she walks the walk as a black woman. And Dolezal responded, absolutely. Braxton went on to discus white privilege and asked if she had ever experienced racism as a black person. And Dolezal responded, the police marked black on my driving ticket. Okay, what do you think Essence, can she truly understand the African American experience in America by adding makeup and changing her hair? Let us know your thoughts on social media using @EssenceMag. Recently Pop Outlet Billboard came under harsh criticism for sexualizing an image of baby Northwest eating a lollipop. The caption with the photo read, the apple doesnt fall far from the tree. Well of course social media immediately scolded the media outlet for sexualizing an innocent child. Well Billboard has now released a correction stating that the caption was suppose to align with the video of young Nori telling the paparazzi, no pictures, similar to that of her father. An apology was released by Billboard. Not everyone is accepting the apology, though. This apology is stupid and the pic you chose has nothing to do with her comments to the paparazzi, Summer replied. Neither Kim, nor Kanye have responded at this time. Next up, Halle Berry and husband of two years, Olivier Martinez Has announced their divorce. Both remain hush-hush but representatives from both sides say that the Hollywood couple want to keep the process short, simple, and as cordial as possible. [SOUND] Last week a petition launched on change.org to have Raven Simone removed as a host On The View. The petition reads, African Americans and black people around the diaspora need a voice representative of their views and not a voice representative of white people want us to say. We need strong black role models in prominent positions on television. And Raven Symone cannot provide that. The petition's goal is to reach 150,000 signatures and it's very close to getting there. ABC responded to the petition and is standing by its host. Let us know what you think @EssenceMag. A Utah based startup is hoping to improve working mothers experience on the job with a creative new policy that will benefit parents to be. Domo, a business management platform, offers expectant mothers $2000 worth of gift cards to Nordstrom, a Pea in the Pod, and Asos, all to spend on maternity clothes, reported by Fortune magazine. The concept of a clothing stipend for moms to be, actually began as a nice gesture by Domo founder and CEO Josh James. When his assistant is pregnant. James then decided to make it a full-pledge policy for all pregnant employees. Since Domo was still a small company it can't match the point to leave benefit packages by larger companies. So this is the way for Domo to work within its mean and sweeten the deal it offers to new parents. We love the effort and the creativity. Last but certainly not least, our girl Willow Smith celebrated her 15th birthday on Halloween. Happy birthday, Willow. Looking fabulous here. And her celeb dad Will Smith shared a heartfelt birthday message on social media, "Thank you for correcting my heart And teaching me how to love without constriction or condition he wrote. Just makes me feel all gushy, I'm a daddy's girl myself. For the full scoop read more right here on Essence.com. Well there you have it that's seven things we're talking about this week.
