POTUS ended his speech with the phrase "Obama, out" before dropping the microphone and heading to his seat.
Last night, President Obama addressed a room full of his political peers, Hollywood elite and members of the press as he delivered his final White House Correspondents’ Dinner speech.
Per usual, the President had the room in stitches with laughter as he ran through a witty round of jokes aimed at everyone from his wife Michelle, to both the Republican and Democratic presidential hopefuls, to his right hand man aka Vice President Joe Biden. One of his first laughable quotes of evening came when he referenced NYC mayor Bill de Blasio’s tasteless comment about being on “CP time” during a recent black-tie event supporting presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton. After apologizing for apparently arriving late to the WHCD, President Obama followed up with, “I was running on CPT, which stands for ‘jokes that white people should not make.'”
The POTUS went on to deliver and unforgettable 30+ minute speech, where he touched on a range of topics and happenings in pop culture in addition to politics. At one point, he even made brief mention of Kendall Jenner’s attendance and a made a joke about “earning some serious Tubmans” in reference to the recent news that Harriet Tubman will soon be featured on the $20 bill. He also acknowledged English actress Helen Mirren, who paid homage to Prince in a purple gown with a visible purple tattoo of the infamous Prince symbol displayed just below her collarbone.
The President ended the memorable address by channeling his inner Kobe Bryant with the final phrase “Obama, out” before dropping the microphone and heading to his seat.
Gotta love it!
