“Ugly Betty’s” Wilhemina Slater played by Vanessa Williams is one of our favorite TV divas. Fierce, fabulous and funny, “Mode’s” Wilhemina is not to be messed with.
02
Dominique Deveraux
Diahann Carroll put the D in diva as Dynasty’s Dominique Deveraux. She gave the popular ‘80s TV series “Dynasty” a little more verve, color and edge. Don’t play with Dominque Deveraux, just ask Alexis Carrington.
03
Hilary Banks
Karyn Parsons played the snobbish Hilary Banks along side Will Smith’s “Fresh Prince of Bel Air.” Banks was the Black girl from Beverly Hills who wore the trendiest fashions and only wanted the best—she was “that” girl.
04
Whitley Gilbert
On “A Different World” Whitley Gilbert was the head diva on campus at Hilman College. A Southern belle who knew what she wanted, when she wanted it. Jasmine Guy stole the show as Miss Whitley.
05
Sandra Clark
A mix between Moms Mabley, Mae West and Marilyn Monroe, Sandra Clark was the sexy, single sister on “227.” Jackee Harry played the bodacious Sandra who always looked good. “Ohhhhhhhhhhhhh….Mary.”
06
Dee Davenport
On “Clueless” (the TV series based on the movie), Stacey Dash played Dionne “Dee” Davenport. “Dee” may have been a Valley GIrl, but she was still very much a Black girl. OMG, don’t touch her outfit or her hair.
07
Toni Chiles
On our beloved “Girlfriends,” Toni Chiles was the sister who you loved to hate. She thought she was all that!!! Jill Marie Jones played Toni to the hilt—egotistical and materialistic. She was so fierce, that she left the show before it ended.
