Tuskegee Airman Roscoe Brown Dies at Age 94

One of the last surviving Tuskegee Airmen has died at the age of 94. 

NPR reports that Roscoe Brown flew an astonishing 68 missions during his time as a World War II Red Tail. He boasted a Distinguished Flying Cross as well as a Congressional Gold Medal.

“He really, really enjoyed telling people and informing people about the Tuskegee Airmen and the role they played,” historian Craig Huntly told NPR. “Not just in World War II, but the role they played in the Civil Rights Movement.”

There are currently fewer than 25 surviving Tuskegee Airmen throughout the country.
