An arrest warrant has been issued for Ofc. Betty Shelby, who shot and killed an unarmed Terence Crutcher after his vehicle broke down in the middle of the road.
Officer Betty Shelby — who shot and killed an unarmed Black man in Tulsa, Oklahoma last Friday — has been charged with felony manslaughter in the first degree, CNN reports.
Tulsa County District Attorney Steve Kunzweiler made the announcement Thursday afternoon.
“We reviewed the facts of the allegations, it is our responsibility to determine if the filing of a criminal charge is justified under the law,” Kurnzweiler said.

“Officer Shelby, although now charged, is presumed to be innocent until a judge or a jury determines otherwise,” he said.

Shelby shot and killed Crutcher, 40, after his vehicle stalled in the middle of the road last week. Dashcam and helicopter video show Crutcher walking back to his SUV with his hands raised above his head. Another officer responding to the scene stunned Crutcher with a Taser as Shelby discharged her weapon.
The DOJ has opened an investigation into the case.
According to CNN, an arrest warrant has been issued for Shelby.
