Attendees at this year’s ESSENCE Festival may have noticed something a bit different about Trey Songz’ attire compared to what he wore last year.
After letting the anticipation build for several minutes, he mounted the stage decked out in a black tuxedo and silver bowtie. This was in stark contrast to his outfit at last year’s ESSENCE Festival when he performed in a much less formal outfit of jeans, a white tee and a blazer. So why the big upgrade?
Apparently it’s all thanks to some words of advice from Charlie Wilson, who advised the young crooner to wear a suit and tie the next time he made an appearance at the festival. Judging by the cheers that greeted him when he first took the stage, Uncle Charlie’s advice was well-received.
