Lifetime’s Toni Braxton: Unbreak My Heart biopic broke records during its Saturday premiere. The two-hour film detailing Braxton’s life was the most-tweeted about TV program on Saturday and the network’s most-watched movie in a year.
Black Twitter was there for every minute of it, reveling in the highs and the lows in the life and times of the singer.
The production was the second most-tweeted about non-sports program in primetime, according to Nielsen ratings.
Chronicling Braxton’s rise to fame with L.A. Reid and Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds, the biopic addressed the famed singer’s battle with lupus to her bankruptcy, her failed marriage and the diagnosis of her son’s autism.
Earning 3.6 million viewers in its TV debut, the TV production became the number one original movie for adults 25-54, women 25-54 and 18-49 since the premiere of the Lifetime original movie, Whitney, last January.
Braxton executively produced the film which is based on her 2011 memoir, Unbreak My Heart.
