Today’s topic: My man is broke Greetings Morning Crew, I have a question/dilemma. I have met this wonderful man. He is caring, he is considerate, and he is a great father, but he is also broke — his own words. In the beginning we went out on dates, to the movies, out for drinks and we had amazing conversation and chemistry, which led to further dates. Then I started noticing that he was too tired to go out or he would say, “Maybe we should stay in and watch a movie.” Well after three weeks of this I am bored out of my mind! We have talked every day since meeting — two months now. In those conversations he has admitted that he is broke and that in the beginning he took an out a loan for us to go out for the first month. Money is not everything to me, but it is important. Especially when he asked me to borrow money. Don’t worry, Shirley. It’s not going to happen! He constantly complains about not having money, which is a total downer. My suggestion was that he find another job — one that allows him to work five days a week instead of three or four. He complained that he would not be able to spend time with his son. That is admirable, but confusing. How does one get used to being broke — so much so that you don’t even try for better? My question is should I continue this relationship and hope he finds a better job or move on to someone more equally yoked to myself?
