This week, Carnegie Hall is launching Honor! A Celebration of the African American Cultural Legacy, according to PR Newswire. The festival will salute the vitality, influence, and creativity of African-American culture and is being curated by renowned soprano Jessye Norman. Running through March 23 with more than 20 events at Carnegie Hall, the Apollo Theater, and other venues throughout New York City, Honor! will include programs paying tribute to Marian Anderson, Duke Ellington, Langston Hughes, and more. Norman appears herself during the festival on March 7. Other favorites including Shirley Caesar and MC Lyte are also scheduled to perform.
