A federal study released by the National Health and Nutrition Examination
Survey says that Black women are shorter on average than a generation ago,
writes the Chicago Tribune. The common height of Black women in the United
States has been diminishing since the late 1960s.

“The only reasonable explanation we can come up with is diet and the obesity
epidemic among [middle- and low-income] Black women,” said John Komlos, an
economist and historian at the University of Munich, to the Tribune.
