The Scandal mastermind will deliever the speech to her Alma Mater's class of 2014.
Shonda Rhimes is headed back to her Alma Mater, Dartmouth College, this June.
The Emmy-nominated creator of Scandal, Grey’s Anatomy and Private Practice will deliver the 2014 commencement address at the Ivy League institution, reports The Root.
The Golden Globe winner and Emmy nominee graduated from the university in 1991 with a degree in English literature and creative writing.
Rhimes says she was shocked when she got the offer, “I was speechless because I often feel the same way I did when I was 20 years old–that I can’t possibly be the grown up in the room, but apparently I am.”
Despite the success of her work, including the Scandal finale breaking ratings records with 10.5 million viewers, Rhimes says that if she had been asked a few years ago she would have passed, believing that she didn’t have enough to say. “The difference between a couple of years ago and now is that I have a perspective on where I’ve been and what I am doing.”
She’ll become the 11th woman since the start of the 20th century to deliver the commencement address when she speaks on June 8.
