Serena Williams has proven once again that she’s a force to be reckoned with on the tennis court. On Tuesday night, Williams advanced to the US Open semifinals, her 36th appearance, after defeating Karolina Pliskova 6-4, 6-3. Williams is pacing towards her first Grand Slam title since becoming a mother last September.
Although Williams’ first set was a slow one, she quickly recovered and dominated Pliskova in the second set. It was only the second time Williams and Pliskova played against each other, the first time in 2014, and two years later at the US Open.
Williams, who recently rallied behind fellow athlete Colin Kaepernick, heads back to the courts on Thursday when she faces No. 19 seed Anastasija Sevastova. Williams is currently ranked at 17, and there’s no doubt that fans will be cheering her on, as she shows off her unmatched athleticism while wearing the finest of tennis tutus.
