Rihanna is in a giving mood this holiday season. The pop star donated approximately $1.75 to the radiotherapy department of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Barbados this weekend in honor of her late grandmother, Clara “Dolly” Braithwaite, reports E! News.
According to hospital officials, the donation was made through Rihanna’s Clara Lionel Foundation and will assist in the acquisition of equipment to assist in the treatment of gynaecological cancers.
Speaking at the renaming ceremony of the department to The Clara Brathwaite Centre for Oncology and Nuclear Medicine, Rihanna said the donation was her way of giving back to her country. “This was all done to save lives or at least extend them,” she said.
Fans of Rihanna are familiar with the singer’s beloved “GranGranDolly,” who lost her battle with cancer this past June. “Goodbye #grangranDOLLY get your beauty rest until I see you,” she wrote.
