Prince Announces 'Welcome 2 America' Tour

The Purple One has announced a multi-city tour to begin "on a purple day December." Titled "Welcome 2 America," the tour will feature guest appearances by Cassandra Wilson, Lalah Hathaway, Mint Condition, Sheila E., Esperanza Spalding, and Janelle Monae, whom he called his "favorite new artist." During a packed press conference at the historic Apollo Theater in New York City, Prince anyone attending to "bring foot spray 'cause its gonna be funky..." The Purple One has announced a multi-city tour to begin “on a purple day December.” Titled “Welcome 2 America,” the tour will feature guest appearances by Cassandra Wilson, Lalah Hathaway, Mint Condition, Esperanza Spalding, and Janelle Monae, whom he called his “favorite new artist.” During a packed press conference at the historic Apollo Theater in New York City, Prince warned everyone to “bring some foot spray ’cause its gonna be funky.” Prince also plugged the education documentary “Waiting for Superman” and announced that the gold-plated Fender guitar he’ll be playing on the tour will be auctioned off to benefit the Harlem Children’s Zone, a charter school headed by educator, Geoffrey Canada.
