Today marks the formal rollout of the new Affordable Care Act, aka Obamacare. The law not only allows the previously uninsured more affordable healthcare options, it also touches on everything from allowing children to remain on their parent’s insurance until they are 26 to making it a crime for insurance companies to deny coverage because of a person’s pre-existing condition.
A few more highlights include a mandate that all insurance plans include coverage for outpatient and emergency services, hospitalization, maternity and newborn care, prescription drugs, chronic disease management, preventive and wellness services, and pediatric services. The list goes on and on. You can find out more about it here.
If you’re one of the millions of Americans checking out the Health Insurance Marketplace today, you’re probably already clued up about what you’re looking for in a plan. So tell us: do you see any benefits in the new plan for your healthcare coverage?
