Ben Carson may know a thing or two about surgery, but he apparently doesn’t know anything about real estate, which is kind of important if you’re the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development.
During a Tuesday afternoon hearing, Carson was confused with real estate terms cited by Rep. Katie Porter, who questioned him on various housing issues during the House Financial Services Committee hearing.
In real estate, an REO, or “real estate owned,” refers to a property owned by a lender, after it’s been foreclosed on. And for those of us into cookies, an Oreo is two chocolate cookies that have a creamy center.
“I would also like to ask you to get back to me, if you don’t mind, to explain the disparity in REO rates. Do you know what an REO is?” asked Rep. Porter.
“An Oreo?” replied Carson.
“R, no not an Oreo. An R-E-O.” Porter replied.
“Real estate?” asked Carson.
“What’s the O stand for?” said Porter.
“E-organization?” asked Carson.
Yes, it was about as painful as you could imagine. Carson’s gifted hands didn’t help him at all.
But this once again proves that most people working in Donald Trump’s administration aren’t suited for the job. Even so, it looks like Carson doesn’t have an issue being the butt of an oreo— we mean joke.Share :
