Pastors Richard Cunningham, 76, and Philip Cunningham, 52, of Laurinburg, North Carolina, were convicted of stealing $3.1 million in church funds, according to EURweb.com. The father and son pleaded guilty to felony grand theft and fraud charges for stealing funds from Calvary Baptist Yorba Linda Church and School to buy luxury items and golf memberships.

The junior Cunningham also pleaded guilty to forging the signature of another associate pastor. Prosecutors said the pastors have paid $3.1 million in restitution to the church. The pastors will spend their sentence in a California State Prison.—Shavon S. Greene
