The scandal surrounding disgraced former Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich for seeking to sale President Obama’s Senate seat has come to a close following his impeachment. Illinois Lieutenant Governor Pat Quinn now serves as the state’s leader.
“Today ends a painful episode for Illinois,” President Obama said in a statement. “For months, the state had been crippled by a crisis of leadership. Now that cloud has lifted, I wish Governor Quinn the best and pledge my full cooperation as he undertakes his new responsibilities.”
