Just the thing you need to see to brighten your day.
Graduating from high school is a special moment in it itself, but for one Oklahoma teenager, the moment he received his diploma was unforgettable for more reasons than one.
Micah McDade was born with cerebral palsy and has faced many obstacles in his life as a result, including multiple surgeries, hours of grueling physical therapy and additional challenges with doing day-to-day things that most take for granted.
Despite his hardships, Micah set a goal for himself of being able to walk across the stage to receive his diploma on graduation day. Doctors who have cared for Michah his entire life were doubtful that he’d ever be able to walk, but he proved them wrong in the most extraordinary way possible on the day he graduated from high school.
According to the local Okmulgee News Network, the graduation crowd filled with Micah’s peers, family and school staff was overwhelmed with emotion as he unexpectedly rose from his wheelchair to accept his diploma and walked for the first time alongside his fellow classmates from the Okmulgee High School class of 2016.
