It’s been a little over nine months since the Obamas waved goodbye to 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.

In that time, the former first family has been diligently working on The Obama Foundation, an organization that seeks to “inspire and empower people to change the world,” according to its’ mission statement. In an effort to do so, they are launching The Obama Foundation Fellowship and are seeking civic-minded individuals to be a part of the inaugural class.

The official website asks for organizers, inventors, artists, entrepreneurs, journalists, and others to apply. 20 people will be selected to participate and gain hands-on training, resources, and leadership development.

Ideal candidates will be open to trying different approaches to reach a common goal and at a point in their career where they have made a significant impact on their communities but are looking to take their work to the next level, and are overall good people.

The organization is accepting Fellows from all over the world, age 18 and older, to engage in the two-year program. The Obama Foundation will take care of expenses related to the four in-person convenings throughout this time and will provide support in securing visas for those coming from abroad.

For more details on the Fellowship, and to apply, visit The deadline to apply is October 6 at 6 p.m. CT.
