UPDATE: 10:20 AM – DECEMBER 11, 2017

Police have named 27-year-old Akayed Ullah as the suspect in Monday’s Port Authority explosion.

Ullah was reportedly wearing a homemade device that did not detonate properly, police say. His motives are unclear. Four people were injured in the blast, including the suspect, who is now at an area hospital.

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio called the incident an act of terrorism.

Let's be clear – this was an attempted terrorist attack. Thank God the perpetrator did not achieve his ultimate goals. Our first responders were there quickly and the only injuries we know of right now are minor.
