Nas teamed up with Seattle -based company, Koru to help college graduates jumpstart their careers.
ESSENCE Festival Headliner Nas is investing in the future, teaming up with Koru, a Seattle based company that assists college graduates with entering the workforce.
According to Forbes, Nas has invested over $100,000 in the non-profit, establishing a scholarship to help grow the number of participants in the program that pairs graduates with established, growing firms.
Marixa Rodriguez, a graduate of Occidental University and Steve Simbert of Georgetown University will be the first students to receive the scholarship and will also be mentored by Nas.
Nas expressed his excitement in joining the program saying, “I’m inspired to support Koru participants because I know how hard it can be to carve out your path and purpose in life. I can’t wait to work directly with them and share what I’ve learned through my own life experiences.”
One hundred students have completed the program thus far. Koru expects to double that number by the end of summer and increase it even further with help from Nas.
