Alicia Keys shows her support of President Obama in a new campaign video.
Alicia Keys is showing her support for President Barack Obama in a newly released campaign video which shows the singer touring Philadelphia to encourage young African-American girls and women to get out to the polls on November 6.
“It’s going to be a close election and each and every one of us have to play our part and as the president always says grassroots organizing is definitely the heart and soul of this campaign,” Keys says in the video.
The ad also shows Keys giving a speech at the Women’s Summit, where she emphasizes the importance of women coming together to stand up for President Obama.
“I don’t think that anyone in this room is surprised by President Obama’s record on women’s issues,” she tells the crowd. “He was raised by such a powerful woman, he married a powerful woman and now he is raising two powerful women, so he definitely gets it. So now it’s our turn to thank him by voting for President Obama in November. We are a powerful force.”
Keys is the latest entertainer to show her support for President Obama. Just last week, Jay-Z and Beyonce raised $4M at a private fundraiser for the President. “I can’t tell you how proud we are to host tonight’s event with President Obama. We believe in his vision,” Beyonce said to the room full of supporters.
