Movie to Show White House Butler's Life

Eugene Allen worked for 34 years as a butler in the White House, and now his life story has grabbed  the attention of Hollywood big wigs. Columbia Pictures has bought the rights to Allen’s story as well as the rights to a Washington Post article written about Allen just a few days after Barack Obama was elected president, according to Reuters.com.

Allen started working at the White House in 1952 and left when Ronald Reagan was president in 1986.

Both he and his wife of 65 years had planned to vote together on Election Day but sadly, she died the day before.

When asked about the content of the film, producer Laura Ziskin said, “It’s about the essence of this man and what he saw, as well as the love story with his wife.”
