
Monica and Brandy are two of their generation’s most influential starlets who set the tone for R&B music in the 90s and early 2000s with their original style, God-given vocal talent and genuine personalities. Despite winning a Grammy together for their unforgettable duet “The Boy Is Mine” in 1999, there was heavy speculation for years that the two divas didn’t quite get along outside of the studio. Both Monica and Brandy have since admitted that there was some truth to the rumors of a rift between them, but Monica kept it all the way real about where they stood then and where they stand today during a recent visit to The Real.

Host Loni Love opened up the topic by bringing up a recent tweet Brandy sent in response to a fan asking if she planned to try her hand at the now-infamous “So Gone Challenge,” which was inspired by Monica’s 2003 hit “So Gone.” When Loni asked Monica how she felt about Brandy’s seemingly less-than-enthused reply to the fan, she had no problem giving the ladies “The Real.” Per usual, Miss Thang kept it classy while also speaking from the heart.
