As Halloween season creeps up, Michael Jackson’s iconic Thriller video is gearing up for a resurrection.
According to Billboard, John Landis, who helmed the 14-minute short in 1983 recently announced the video will get a 3D reboot.
“It is going to reappear in a highly polished and three-dimensional way that is very exciting on the big screen,” said Landis.
The project is getting the green light after years of dispute with the King of Pop’s estate.
“That lawsuit went on for so many years, (but) we settled and they paid me finally,” Landis said.
Now that all is settled, Landis plans to bring the video to theaters and Blu-ray in the near future.
One of Jackson’s most popular songs, Thriller was inducted into the National Film Registry by the Library of Congress in 2009, the first music video to receive the honor.
Landis didn’t give any additional details but did reveal that fans can expect to see the 3D project as soon as 2015.
