The celebrity community has taken a swift and active role in stepping up to help aid Houston, Texas residents in the wake of the devastation left behind by Hurricane Harvey.
Among those who have come forward to use their platforms as a means of outreach and service for those affected is none other than music industry mogul Percy “Master P” Miller. A dedicated philanthropist with personal ties to the city of Houston, Miller was recently in attendance for a day of fundraising hosted by WNBA star and Houston native Brittney Griner. Working alongside Griner, P donated water, food and clothing for elderly residents.
The Hip Hop icon spoke highly of Griner following her game later on that evening, while also reiterating his strong support for women’s rights in alignment with being named president of the new Global Mixed Gender Basketball League, earlier this summer.
“Brittney Griner is one of the best players that I’ve seen in a long time, she stands for equality and that is what our GMGB co-ed league is all about,” Miller said in a statement. “We are in support of women’s rights and the WNBA. I believe our league will help put more fans in the seats of the WNBA.” Said Miller. “When pro-basketball fans see how talented these women are against men players, history will be made, I can’t wait for September 23rd in Las Vegas as the world will have the opportunity to witness the first high-level competition, coed pro-basketball game.”

Griner and Miller have both since continued individual efforts to aid the Houston community after joining forces at the fundraiser. We salute them both and continue to pray for the families recovering from Hurricanes Harvey and Irma.
