In the spirit of their whirlwind romance, newlyweds Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon maintained the high-speed momentum of their fairy-tale love affair with a postwedding bash at Six Flags Magic Mountain in Valencia, California. The Nick Cannon Presents: Wild ‘N Out host and executive producer reserved the amusement park Tuesday evening for an impromptu celebration and decorated it with pink and purple balloons embellished with Carey’s butterfly insignia, according to a Nick Cannon pal.
“Nick wanted to give Mariah a special gift and also have her meet his family and friends,” the pal said. “It was the first time I met her, and she was very sweet-not standoffish, no superstar-diva attitude at all-and she looked beautiful!”
The festivities kicked off about 7 p.m., but the happy couple arrived casually dressed (Carey in all black and Cannon with a white sweatshirt and jeans) a little after 8 p.m. Following a 15-minute meet and greet with family and friends, the Cannons and their guests were transported on golf carts to various rides and games. On the playground were the singer’s personal assistant and her manager Benny Medina; Nick’s parents; half-brother Reuben; his grandfather; as well as corporate bigwigs Tony DiSanto and Liz Gateley.
The first stop for the lovebirds–who were wed in an oceanside ceremony April 30 in the Bahamas–was the flying roller coaster Tatsu. The daredevil adventures escalated throughout the evening with other monster rides, including the Viper, Revolution and Goliath. Somehow they even made time for photo ops with amusement park characters Bugs Bunny, Tweety and Sylvester. At the end of the evening, guests were presented with superhero capes.
But it’s this kind of healthy child’s play that promises to keep the couple forever young. Cannon, 27, who surprised Carey, 38, with her 17-karat pink diamond ring enclosed in a Ring Pop candy wrapper, told People magazine, “We are both eternally 12 years old.”
