Malikah Shabazz, the youngest daughter of Malcolm X, has been sentenced to five years probation after being found guilty of identity theft.

Shabazz, 46, and a North Carolina Resident, stole the identity of an elderly family friend and made over $55,000 in illegal purchases in her name, prosecutors say. The woman was the widow of one of her father’s former bodyguards. Shabbaz pleaded guilty in June and was freed from jail. As part of the deal, she must pay back the full amount of stolen funds.

The woman’s husband was present when Malcolm X was assassinated at the Audubon Ballroom in Harlem and has a long history with the Shabbaz family.
