Makeup Moments: Fashion Week 2010

Makeup Moments: Fashion Week 2010
By · Updated October 29, 2020
01
Proenza Schouler

February 19, 2010
Brown lipstick is officially back! At Proenza Schouler, models hit the catwalk wearing the deepest, vampiest, mahogany-maroon lipstick –and nothing else. Very modern.

Phillip Lim

February 18, 2010
At Phillip Lim, the models rocked out in tough eyes and pale pink lips—just the thing for the disco-punk pieces he sent down the catwalk. “Phillip was going for an elegant punk-rock princess look,” says NARS lead makeup artist Lisa Butler, who created the look backstage. “The eyes were punchy and edgy, while the lips were a soft, sheer pink.”

Tibi

February 17, 2010
Everything was on point at Tibi—the floral minidresses, the artfully mussed curls—but the makeup was especially fierce. “For Fall, the Tibi woman is disheveled, but elegant at the same time,” said Bobbi Brown makeup artist Wendy Rowe, who created the look. “We married ‘pretty’ with ‘powerful’ by doing a ‘60s cat eye with a bit of pink blush and a nude lip.”

Marc Jacobs

February 16, 2010
At Marc Jacobs, the models rocked “morning after” makeup—ie, imperfect smoky eyes and slightly faded, unlined lips. “These girls are sexy and cool,” says Francois Nars, Creative Director of NARS Cosmetics and head makeup artist for the show. “Their makeup looks dirty and worn out as if it’s been on all night…but it still translates beautifully on the runway.”

Diane von Furstenburg

February 15, 2010
There’s nothing new about a smoky eye, but at DVF, the metallic silver-flecked, lash-to-brow sweep of midnight blue gave the old trick a modern spin. Sessilee killed it!

Arise

February 14, 2010
The makeup at the Arise Magazine African Collective show was all about easy, effortless glamour. The bold, darkened brows, shimmering skin and pale pink lips managed to look gorgeous on all the models, from the fairest to the deepest complexions. We have a feeling we’ll be copying this look all Spring…

Nicole Miller

February 13, 2010
We love the combination of the strong brow, grayish-plum shadow and sheer berry-tinted lips at Nicole Miller. Here, supermodel Arlenis Sosa flaunts the modern, wildly chic look.

Jason Wu

February 12, 2010
Designer du jour Jason Wu sent models down the runway wearing clean, nude skin—save for a wash of sheer metallic eye shadow. Simple, understated, and impossibly chic.

Richard Chai

February 11, 2010
The lip at Richard Chai so turned us out! A deep, rich, brownish/brick-red, the shade managed to look fierce on everyone from the fairest to the brownest models.
