Just months after Lyfe Jennings released a song called “Statistics
,” the Ohio native has become one — after being sentenced to three and a half years in prison for criminal trespassing and firing a gun. The sentencing is for an October 2008 incident in which Jennings kicked down the door of his ex-girlfriend’s house, fired a handgun in the street and lead police on a high-speed chase… The platinum-selling singer recently bowed out of his singing career, saying that his latest album, “I Still Believe” (released in August), would be his last. He also took to Twitter to thank his fans. “This will be my last post,” he tweeted. “To everyone who gave me a chance I am forever in your debt. I have had a fabulous career because of you.” A singer who relied on his “realness,” Jennings is all too familiar with life behind bars after serving 10 years for arson when he was 19. And if he’s anything like the “The Phoenix” he wrote about on his second album, Jennings will rise again.
