Lil Duval Jokes About Murdering Transgender Women, Leads To ‘The Breakfast Club’ Boycott

#BreakfastClubBoycott began trending after the comedian’s appearance on the radio show.
Lil Duval Jokes About Murdering Transgender Women, Leads To ‘The Breakfast Club’ Boycott

The Breakfast Club can sometimes be problematic, so it comes as no surprise that the show is catching heat after comedian Lil Duval made transphobic remarks during an interview.

Duval, who no one really remembered was still doing comedy, joined The Breakfast Club crew to roast The Real Sidechicks of Charlotte, which it turns out is actually a show.

However, at one point the comic was asked about Trump’s decision to ban transgender people from the military, which he tried to dodge before referring to transgender women with a derogatory term. Then, Duval was asked what he’d do if he met a transgender woman, making the horrifying remark that if he every unknowingly met and slept with one “she’s dying.”

“That ain’t a girl, I met a boy,” he said. When pushed about what would happen if the two had a sexual encounter, Duval added, “We not having sex. This might sound messed up, but I don’t care. She’s dying… You manipulated me to believe in this thing. If one did that to me, and they didn’t tell me, I’mma be so mad I’d probably going to want to kill them.”

Duval’s interview comes just after The Breakfast Club had transgender writer and activist Janet Mock on the show, where she basically educated the host on transgender issues.

For the show to turn around and allow a D-list comedian, or anyone, to come on and make transphobic remarks is disappointing and upsetting— which was the same sentiment on Black twitter.

Activists Raquel Willis, Leslie Mac and April Reign started the #BreakfastClubBoycott after the interview went viral, taking to Twitter to call out the show for supporting the transphobic comedian.

This is the context for #BreakfastClubBoycott. Charlamagne needs to be supporting & uplifting trans folks but uses his platform for this. 😒 https://t.co/X1kysMYzO4

Good morning - #BreakfastClubBoycott it's way past due. The time to decide where you stand is now.

On Monday, Mock also shared an article for Allure, calling out the show and recalling her own experience. She wrote, “It’s this deplorable rhetoric that leads many cis men, desperately clutching their heterosexuality, to yell at, kick, spit on, shoot, burn, stone, and kill trans women of color.”

Adding, “Until cis people — especially heteronormative men — are able to interrogate their own toxic masculinity and realize their own gender performance is literally killing trans women, cis men will continue to persecute trans women and blame them for their own deaths. If you think trans women should disclose and ‘be honest,’ then why don’t you work on making the damn world safe for us to exist in the first place?

But, Duval is clearly proud of his transphobic remarks as the comedian shared the following tweet Monday morning.

"Lil duval they waiting on you to apologize"

Ignorance and transphobia is not a good look, but it looks like Duval is content with being ugly.
