On Saturday, at least 16 people were killed in Rwanda and 140 others injured when lightning struck a Seventh Day Adventist church, according to the Associated Press.

Fourteen of the congregants present during church service that day (in the Nyaruguru district), were killed immediately, Agence-France Presse reports. Two later died in hospital from their injuries.

This is so sad! The Sabbath is a day of celebration and for some families it was turned into a day of mourning. I am praying for this community! #adventist @adventistchurch #SABBATH https://t.co/vyZ8BcSyk4

The news came a day after another lightning incident occurred on Friday, killing one student. Three other students remain in hospital while the other 14 that were hit have been able to return home, reports say.

“Doctors say that only three of them are in critical condition but they are getting better,” he said.
According to the Mayor, a similar accident took place on Friday when lightning struck a group of 18 students, killing one of them.
