Laverne Cox continues to kick in glass ceilings.
This month, Cox covers the February issue of Cosmopolitan South Africa and becomes the first-ever openly transgender person to grace the publication. Cox, 45 expressed her excitement over the cover on social media.
Cosmopolitan South Africa also posted exclusive behind-the-scenes footage of Cox’s photo shoot.
Cox is accustomed to making history. In 2014, she became the first openly transgender Emmy nominee for her role in Orange is The New Black. She also became the first transgender person to cover Time Magazine.
She praised transgender role models and influencers — such as Andrea Pejic, Hari Nef, and Geena Rocero — who paved the way for her.
“Thanks to trans models like @leat @andrejapejic @harinef @valentts @geenarocero @therealtraceyafrica and more who are changing beauty standards and breaking barriers for trans folks on the covers of fashion magazines all over the world.”Share :
