As a new batch of drama comes to a boiling point on the current season of The Real Housewives of Atlanta, Kim Zolciak is opening up on why she’s no longer a cast member of the famed reality show.
Rumors had been swirling that Zolciak was fired but she recently refuted those claims, telling InTouch that it was her decision to leave the show.
“I was eight months pregnant and there was so much drama; I just had to walk,” Zolciak said about her midseason departure from the Bravo series. “I’ve taken on so much in the past five years, but this was the final straw. My priority was the child inside me.”
The decision to leave the show came after Zolciak was criticized by her cast mates after she decided to cancel a trip to Anguilla. Zolciak, who was 36-weeks-pregnant at the time, maintains that she was not allowed to travel due to her doctor’s orders which infuriated her fellow Housewives.
“They couldn’t understand why I couldn’t go,” said Kim. “Fighting is what we’re known for, but I’ve never disagreed with a pregnant woman. It’s not one life you’re dealing with, it’s two.”
NeNe Leakes isn’t buying Zolciak’s side of the story and took to her Twitter account to offer a conflicting side of the story. “It’s so funny how this chick wants people 2 think she quit the show! The producers no longer wanted 2 work wit u! Good bye wit the lies,” Leakes wrote over the weekend.
Zolciak quickly logged onto her Twitter account to respond. “I definitely was NOT fired from RHOA. I can guarantee u that!!!” the reality star wrote.
Although Zolciak will no longer hang with the Housewives, she will appear in her own yet-to-be-named spin-off series on Bravo in the spring.
