Today’s topic: How to lighten up a room Dear Kim, I have followed you all the way from your first day. Love your style. My question is: I want to paint my living room a dark rich green. I have a big picture window but lots of shade. I have a dark brown wood fireplace. Will this make my room look even darker or can I two-tone it with light and dark green paint with a white crown molding? I really love the color, so maybe you can suggest ways to make it not so dark with accessories? KIM MYLES: First, thanks for the love! I believe that you should go with what you love, and it sounds like using two-tones of that green would be ideal considering the shade and dark wood situation. The white molding will help as well, and consider doing a white curtain and maybe some lighter furniture to help the space feel open. Have fun! Read more:
