When Kentucky’s two African-American judges retire in January, there will be no Blacks on the bench in the state’s courts, the Associated Press reports. Janice Martin and Toni Stringer are the two judges set to retire in the New Year. Martin became Kentucky’s first African-American female judge in 1992. Local activists, such as the Louisville NAACP, are looking to replace the retirees with Black attorneys.
