We caught up with the stunning singer at the Empress launch event Sag Harbor, NY, where she chatted with us about why she’s uber-excited about the new scent.
ESSENCE.COM: What do you love most about Empress?
Kelly Rowland: The first time I sprayed it I was instantly taken because I loved the floral, fruity scent. But after awhile, I smelled the caramel and vanilla notes, and loved it even more! Empress is a unique, strong scent that really floats with you.
ESSENCE.COM: Why are you the perfect ambassador for the scent?
KR: Empress and I mirror each other. Empress is all about being confident, and understanding your worth as a woman, which is exactly where I am right now. While I was making “Here I Am,” I finally realized my own power — and it’s pretty freaking amazing!
ESSENCE.COM: Your power definitely shines through on the new album.
KR: You know, there’s nothing wrong with saying how dope you are and that you… um… know how to motivate! And wearing a scent that makes you feel unique and strong is so empowering.
