Social Media Wasn’t Feeling Joe Biden’s Best Friends Day Tweet To Barack Obama

Barack Obama is staying neutral during the 2020 Presidential race, but that didn't stop Joe Biden from reminding us of their bromance.

Though Barack Obama has yet to endorse any candidate in the 2020 presidential race, that didn’t stop Joe Biden from reminding the world that he and the 44th Commander-in-Chief are what he considers best friends. On Saturday while the country celebrated #BestFriendsDay all throughout social media, Biden joined in on the action with a tweet of his own.

The former Vice President posted a photo of what looked to be a handmade, yellow and orange twined bracelet with the letters “JOE” and “BARACK” spelled out. While Biden’s hand accessory came outfitted with a smiling face emoji, and a slice of pie, Obama’s had a Hawaiin- looking flower and blue star.

The message that accompanied the photo read “Happy #BestFriendsDay to my friend, @BarackObama.”

It’s certainly not the first time Biden put his “bromance” with the former president on display. But there was something about this particular exhibition of love that got Twitter going. Many felt he was pandering for votes. Others thought the whole thing was merely cringeworthy.

Dude is 70-whatever years old and his campaign pitch is mostly “I’m totally BFFs with that guy you like.”

Although Twitter reactions were less than favorable, the latest CNN poll shows that Biden is still leading the pack of more than 20 presidential hopefuls with 24 percent of the vote in Iowa. A Morning Consult Political Intelligence poll released in April showed that 47 percent of Black women would back Biden as the next President of the United States.
