House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi Endorses Hillary Clinton For President

Hillary Clinton has been presumed the Democratic presidential nominee and House minority leader Nancy Pelosi says she has her full support.

Although Hillary won’t officially clinch the nomination until the superdelegates vote on July 25, Pelosi was proud to announce that she’s rallying behind the former Secretary of State.

“Well, I’m a voter in California and I have voted for Hillary Clinton for President of the United States and proud to endorse her for that position,” she said Wednesday in an interview with Good Morning America. “But, I hasten to say that it’s not over ’til it’s over. Californians haven’t voted and neither have other voters in 5 states.”

Hillary’s Democratic primary win in Puerto Rico on Sunday, along with support from additional superdelegates, helped push her to 2,384 delegates of the 2,383 needed to clinch the nomination.

While Pelosi made it a point to emphasize that she believes Hillary’s historic achievement should be celebrated because she’s the best person for the job and not just because she’s a woman, she also admitted that the prospect of having Senator Elizabeth Warren join Hillary on the ticket as her VP pick is an exciting one.

“We’ve had two men over and over again for hundreds of years,” she told Stephanopoulos. “I think that two women, whoever they may be, that would be fabulous as well, but Hillary Clinton will choose the person that she feels most comfortable with.”

Hillary’s official clinching of the Democratic nomination will make her the first woman ever to do so in the 240-year history of the United States.
