“I never dreamed of winning ‘Top Model’,” says the season three winner, who looks stunning at the reality show’s Hollywood finale party.
“My hair is really light so to keep it from looking brassy or dull I use products that moisturize, protect against dryness and add shine. I’ve always loved using products by Cream of Nature, Pantene Pro V line for African-American hair and of course Mixed Chicks,” says Marcille on how she cares for her hair.
“I like browns and blondes in golden honey hues. It flatters my complexion and my eyes," shares Marcille on her top hair color picks. "I like to go without makeup as much as I can, so I try to do something that makes you look golden all the way around.”
We asked Marcille how she plans to update her do for the coming fall. “I plan to keep my fans guessing on what’s to come next. I’m not going back long, but I plan to switch it up a little bit.”
“One of my most memorable red-carpet hair moments was at the Grammys in 2006. I was at the height of my short hair and everything that day was just perfect,” says the 2009 NAACP Image Award nominee. “My cousin Terrell Mullin, who does my hair and makeup, had just cut me and I loved it. It was one of my favorite pictures and I don’t have too many favs.”
When it comes to hair idols Marcille stays true to her runway roots with a nod to talk-show mogul Tyra Banks. “Tyra does an amazing job with her hair and she is constantly changing it up. She works the lace front wigs and it always looks good,” says “The Young and The Restless” star, whose character is coincidentally named Tyra.
“Depending on your profession you might have to have long hair one minute and then something entirely new the next. I keep my hair long more so for work. I figured out the whole weave and wig situation so it was time to go back short again,” says the star on her recent cut.
“I prefer the look of short hair so I tried to figure out how I could marry the two and I discovered lace front wigs. You can wear a wig and experiment with so many different textures, colors and styles and then just take it off and have my short hair again.”
A big award show calls for a look that pulls out all the stops and that’s what Marcille went for at the 39th NAACP Image Awards.
Elegance with ease is the whole idea behind Marcille’s do at the “Meet The Browns” Los Angeles premiere.
To turn on the heat styling Marcille relies on Chi hair tools. “Chi has this very small baby flat iron, and you can just throw it in your purse. It’s really little and I don’t have much hair so it is perfect.”
If you love a head full of waves and curls, this gorgeous texture is just a rod set away. Use rods instead of a curling iron to achieve lush, romantic tousled curls. For extra volume, set hair at the crown.
Rich dark brown hair colors like Marcille’s mocha shade are in this season. Try using color-specific products for color-treated hair like Redken Color Extend Conditioner, $14, redken.com, to maintain your vibrant hue.
“I’ve wanted to go back short for awhile. I missed by short hair; it’s my favorite hairdo. If I had it my way my hair would be short all the time.”
The happily engaged Marcille gave us the scoop on how she envisions her hair on the big wedding day.
“It’s going to be very chic, very Chanel and it’s going to be short,” shares the love bird, who is pictured giving fiancée and actor Lance Gross a smooch at his 28th birthday bash that took place this month in Hollywood.
